SAMESAME No. 02

Description

SAMESAME is a collection of glass objects that originate from standard commercial glass bottles and are given new shapes. Industrially produced bottles are used as casting blanks and converted into new objects by way of artisanship – their once archetypal shapes altered aesthetically as well as in functionality. The original bottles remain recognisable in details, yet the makeover turns a standardised mass product into a high quality and unique one-off edition.

Statement of the jury

The idea of reconfiguring conventional deposit bottles was implemented in a sophisticated design. The result is striking glass objects that leave the original form recognisable and play with the cult of design objects that have been part of our everyday lives for decades in an original fashion.
