ZM Operations Building in Lusaka, Zambia
Description
The building is a squared floor block which alternates opaque and transparent facades, placing each lining in contiguous faces. As a result, the ground-floor views face East and West, while the first floor faces North and South. The resulting elevations offer large opaque fronts on the access sides, and large glazed fronts in the adjacent elevations to illuminate the workspaces.
Statement of the jury
The underlying design concept of leaving the building’s façade transparent on the top or bottom alternately lends this rectangular building, with its clear and regular form, a characteristic aesthetic.
