Statement of the jury

The MichelApp familiarises visitors with St. Michael’s, the main church that is one of the iconic landmarks of Hamburg, in an informative and entertaining manner. Thanks to the use of beacons at certain points – e.g. next to exhibits – the relevant information is automatically communicated via smartphone so visitors can read or listen to it. The app has a clean, clearly organised design in terms of both form and content, so that all information displayed is quickly and easily accessible. Moreover, the app incorporates additional fun and useful features, including an informative quiz, an event calendar and a ticket shop. This app is outstanding in every way, and will be of interest for local residents as well as tourists.
