Josai I-House Togane Global Village

Description

The I-House Global Village efficiently houses, educates, and integrates 132 culturally diverse, international students. A dormitory bar contains a range of room types and hovers over an International Centre that projects out to engage the landscape and comprises an event space, study area, and galleries. A south-facing louvered façade, its colour changing with the sun’s daily arc, masks exterior balconies and walkways that serve the dormitory rooms, all with northward views of rice fields.

Statement of the jury

This formally linear design with its bay windows and slat façade has a highly iconic look. The large opening is another striking detail.
