Description

The Tenerife Fine Arts Center is a non-profit enterprise, and was founded in 1925. It provided a strong and refreshing publicly committed programme. This renovation was intended to enhance the building’s usability and was entrusted to Menis. The work transformed movement across the five storeys to make them more accessible and highlighted the reception desk through a specially created piece that looks more like a site-specific installation than a piece of furniture. It’s a low-cost item made from concrete blocks.

Statement of the jury

This brutalist reception counter made of large cement bricks constitutes an inventive visual treat for visitors and also serves as a standalone work of art. A beautiful piece of exceptional artistic quality.
