Emscherkunst 2016

Description

Emscherkunst is a triennial exhibition in Germany’s Ruhr Area. During the 100 days of Emscherkunst from June to September 2016, artists like Ai Weiwei, Tobias Zielony, Nevin Aladag? and atelier le balto will be exhibited alongside the river Emscher. The exhibition takes place in seven art areas between the cities of Holzwicke and Herne. Visitors can explore the 50-km art route by bike. The visual identity of the Emscherkunst is redesigned every three years.

Statement of the jury

The fantastic appearance plays with discovery and concealment; with its multifaceted design it ingeniously reflects the motto “Discover Art”. The word “art”, encrypted in Morse code, serves as the central design element.
