Description

The museum is an artificial underwater environment organized under an immense glass roof, designed to give the maximum view of the ocean and intensify the feeling of diving down to the seabed. Water functions as a temperature buffer for the building, simulating the ocean’s role as a regulator of the world climate.

Statement of the jury

The spectacular design symbolises the historic and cultural ties of the city to the sea by overcoming the natural boundary between the land and the water and inviting visitors to stroll on the ocean floor.
