Óbidos Techonological Park/ Central Building

Description

On the outskirts of Lisbon, the Óbidos Technological Park has been planned with the aim of linking academic research with business and creative industries. The project defines an inhabited topography on which a square-shaped ring rests. Public spaces, such as meeting rooms, a restaurant and a fablab are located on ground floor in order to reinforce the public character of the interior void. Working areas are arranged on the first floor on a modular grid, allowing for a great flexibility for work spaces.

Statement of the jury

The interplay between the exterior impact and the enclosed area is impressively accomplished, whereby the ease with which the building with its surprisingly vibrant concrete skin fits into the landscape is fascinating.
