Description

Max Mörtl was born in 1984 in Munich. He first studied communications design at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and then switched to Hamburg University of Applied Sciences,where he studied animation and film, graduating with honours in 2012.

Alongside his handmade stop-motion films, which have been shown at several festivals, Mörtl has specialisedin visualising music in the form of music clips and interactive films. His graduation project VisualBeat, an interactive music clip, won a Silver award at the ADC new talents competition and 1st Prize at the kurzundschön contest in the Motion Art category.

Mörtl has freelanced since 2010 as an animator and director. In addition to leading workshops on animation, since 2014 he has been lecturing about analogue animated film at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
