Yawairo Uiro

Description

Uiro is a traditional Japanese sweet regarded as rather old-fashioned among young people. Often provided in soft plastic bags, it's unattractive and difficult to eat. To refresh its imagery, Enjin created plastic cups to contain individual uiro and patterned packaging to make it more appealing. The outer packaging has eight variations, and within it are different designs for each inner wrapping. 

Statement of the jury

The puristic package design has a fresh, contemporary look, and together with the boxes leaves an impression of high quality. The clean lines and tasteful patterns that beautifully adorn the square white boxes clearly differentiate the various types of sweets. Very lovingly rendered.
