Yu Qingcheng Art Museum

Description

The designer put forward a new concept of “manifold”. The building is full of movement and has two or more different forms at the different ends; the form is not a result but a process, a continuous flowing and changing of space, a process from static to dynamic, a temporal spatial evolution process. A geometrical composition from linear to nonlinear changes with both topology and fractal characteristics.

Statement of the jury

This museum building, which is composed of seven interconnected sculptural structures, looks as though it is engaged in a process of perpetual motion. A fascinating building that impressively demonstrates the creative powers of its builder.
