Haus in Z

Haus in Z

Description

The detached house is situated on a slight slope at the edge of a forest. Its form attracts the eye, but the overall impression remains discreet and simple. Thanks to the façade’s sandy tones and the chamfered zinc roof, the structure fits into the context of this villa district. The roof was given its form as a way of making the most of what the building code allows. The orthogonal rotation of the ridge gives rise to straight walls on the top floor, thus producing more living space.

Statement of the jury

This design features an intriguing interplay between simplicity on one hand and a wealth of forms on the other. The zinc roof in particular, with its various slopes, makes the building distinctive – a quality that is underscored by the minimalist framing of the entrances.
