For nearly 300 years, the book and music publisher Breitkopf & Härtel has stood for pioneering music editions on the highest level. After more than 20 years, the world’s oldest music publishing house presented a new corporate design in 2017. The aim was to make Breitkopf & Härtel’s tradition and quality visible on all publications. Our concern was to do a gentle facelift. With this reinvention, we would like to herald a new era, though certainly not by throwing overboard what is tried and true.


Statement of the jury

The new look showcases this venerable publishing house as a contemporary company that is open to new ideas. However, the main signature design elements also signal that the publisher intends to remain true to itself and its past.
