GAIA

Description

GAIA is inspired by the poetics of form created through urban influences. It uses sculptural techniques as a mechanism to blend urban fabric and architecture. It is the play between form and structure and its newfound unconventional relationship. The parametric iterative digital process that allows for multiple solutions to predetermined problems. GAIA is located near a newly proposed government building, the future metro stop, a large shopping centre and the city’s most important urban park.

Statement of the jury

The circumferential rounded slats installed on the exterior of this modern and elegant building structure it and at the same time endow it with an organic aesthetic. Large, and likewise circumferential window façades, enable the slats between the floors to practically float – an effect that makes the building look incredibly light.
