First, the structure threads are dipped in fluid porcelain. In the fire the threads burn completely and leave the remaining porcelain web. The structure of the cord remains and gives the Cordporcelain its identity. The technique was invented by Silke Decker. In creating intricate, “ossified” vessels, Silke redefines the common perception of porcelain. Here the physical structure takes centre stage, and puts itself firmly in the contemporary arena.
The storytelling that accompanies the intricate production of this delicate collection is as exciting as the beautiful pieces are fascinating. Fantastic work that makes each object unique.
