Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette

Description

A solid block of heavy marble that is mechanically hollowed out, forming a very thin stone wall. The resulting object has a manageable weight, is easily suspended from the ceiling and becomes translucent too. When the light passes through this type of stone, it experiences a complete mutation in its colour as well as in its form and temperature – a revolution. The shapes are very simple, inspired by Marie Antoinette.

Statement of the jury

Here, light shining through a thin marble wall makes the striking grain look like subcutaneous veins, thus creating a special atmosphere.
