Detail by Davinia Sutton Ltd, a New Zealand-based interior design company, were engaged to create a modern kitchen that would accommodate the needs of a typical family but could be expanded for large social gatherings. The clients requested a design that expressed their ties to the butcher’s profession. Detail by Davinia Sutton have created a kitchen space that is bold in its design language and plays a central role within the architecture of the home overall.

Statement of the jury

The contemporary design of this kitchen is notable for its superb details. Also visually striking is the enormous wooden board which is meant to evoke a sturdy chopping block of the type used in butcher shops.
