Description

How do you update a TV icon like Germany’s »das aktuelle sportstudio« without losing its unique appeal? The challenge involved creating a set that would be up-to-date visually and technically, yet still retains its up-close atmosphere. The result is a flexible digital–analogue toolkit for quality journalism that defines both other ZDF programmes – »SPORTreportage« and »SPORTextra« – too. The core design element, a swarm of custom-developed LED modules, is inspired by scarves in the stadium.

Statement of the jury

The loosely arranged LED panels extending almost all the way around the grandstand bring a stadium atmosphere into the studio. A striking and contemporary studio decor that optimally leverages all the possibilities offered by modern technology, that endows the decor with a distinctive visual identity and that is eminently fit for the future.
