Lohsepark

Description

As the central green space of the HafenCity, the Lohsepark fulfils important urban, social and ecological functions. The open space concept of the 550 m-long park, which is located between two water surfaces, pursues two basic ideas: a water-to-water perspective, and precise spatial grading at three different levels. The memorial site »denk.mal Hannoverscher Bahnhof«, which is integrated into the park, commemorates the deportation of more than 8,000 Jews, Sinti and Roma in the years 1940-1945.

The location between two bodies of water and the resulting line of sight from water body to water body engender a unique atmosphere that is well served by a system that has been designed with great attention to detail.
