Place Curé-Labelle

Place Curé-Labelle

Description

Place du Curé-Labelle was created in 1905 in memory of this priest known as the »King of the North«. It is located on the site of the Ville de Saint-Jérôme’s first church (1837). To add a modern aspect to the project, a painted steel wall was erected, replicating the true dimensions and location of the façade of the first church. These arches create a strategic visual axis in the direction of the central monument, suggesting a window looking towards the »King of the North«.

Statement of the jury

You can’t help but notice this steel wall, which arouses interest and curiosity in its setting – namely a public park. A superb and modern installation.
