Wohnen an der Magistrale
Description
The residential building is located directly on a main road with an adjoining tram line. As a result, the motif of noise was therefore an importance source of inspiration for the design. For the essential purpose of noise insulation, a double façade made of almost rimless glass in combination with filigreed, reinforced concrete and prefabricated elements was developed. This is to achieve the structure and three-dimensionality of the facade.
Statement of the jury
The visual relief of the glass façade in the form of a fitting bay-window structure represents a successful interpretation of the architecture of the Wilhelminian Period, which allows the building to sit comfortably among the existing building stocks of the neighbourhood.
