Description

The modern and future-oriented timber structure with 324 beds was planned to accommodate recruits during their training. The building is erected on the reinforced concrete base of the roof over the vehicle parking spaces. Two three-story blocks were built on the solid base using a cross-laminated timber construction. The functions are clearly structured floor by floor over vehicle parking spaces and living quarters and within the floors, with the social rooms at the end of each block.

Statement of the jury

The tonal contrast between the light coloured reinforced concrete of the garages and the dark structure for the residential areas underlines the modern character of the design.
