Messehallen 09–12 Messe Dornbirn

Description

An emblematic giant. The new exhibition halls 09-12 combine different functions in one gigantic, monolithic building measuring 170 x 70 x 17 m high in black, unified with elliptical incisions, courtyards and foyers in deep, rich carmine. The incisions mark the different entrance locations: on the west side are the introverted, elliptical delivery courtyard and entrance courtyard. On the east façade you find the spectacular, inviting foyer between the two exhibition halls.

Statement of the jury

The red incised ellipses form an interesting contrast with the dark façade, lending the monolithic structure its own peculiar identity.
