H7 administrative building

H7 administrative building

Description

The H7 building with its 7 storeys shows a new application for timber. The construction utilises its structural properties; whereby an increase in the cross-section by measuring the combustion rate allows a visible timber structure. The exterior walls are realised as a load-bearing timber construction and the ceiling as timber-concrete composite panels. For the façade a ceramic tile was developed consisting of varied relief structures and colours. Co2 emissions were reduced by 262 tons.

Statement of the jury

The modern design would lead one to expect the kind of steel construction typical of this style, but surprises with a solid timber frame supporting structure. Interesting and inspired.
