Propsteikirche St. Trinitatis Leipzig
Description
The window of the new Provost Church of the Holy Trinity in Leipzig stretches across the northern side of the building at ground level facing the urban space along its whole length of 22 m. Surmounted by the widely projecting organ loft, the opaque but translucent glass shows its unique effect only because of the light sources, which are hidden in the construction of the window.
Statement of the jury
The translucent glazed façade is highly distinctive and attracts a lot of curiosity and lends the architecture a striking characteristic that makes it unmistakeable, a pleasant design idea whose effect continues in the interior where it creates an atmospheric ambience.
