Kamiuma House

The voids function as spaces that are continuous with the surrounding environment, residents, and the neighbourhood. They serve to modulate connections with the exterior – connections created by lines of sight between residents, and connections with the sun, sound, wind. The three voids modulate the relationships between these elements of the interior and exterior. This modulation enables just the right degree of interaction and leads to harmonious coexistence with the surrounding environment.

Statement of the jury

With its largely closed surfaces, the building makes an all-but monolithic impression, but houses a surprising interior characterised by a bright and cheery atmosphere created by clever openings in the roof and part of the façade. An extravagant, modern design, which will ensure a high quality of life despite its location.
