Exciting material, tricky conditions and exceptional leeway regarding concept and design: For »SUMO«, Favini’s extra-heavy, superior quality cardboard, we created a very special sample book in the form of KAMIZUMO, the paper version of the Japanese cult sport. The massive slipcase, which folds into a sturdy game board, contains eight lovingly illustrated characters – each embodying the specific characteristics of its respective material and the applied printing and finishing techniques.

Statement of the jury

This beautifully designed sample book evokes elements of popular Japanese culture. The striking manner in which the various types of paper are presented is inventive and original, and arouses the customer’s curiosity.
