MEDITATIONSHAUS IM WALD

MEDITATIONSHAUS IM WALD

Description

In the middle of a forest is a pavilion. No road, no bare areas remind visitors of a building process. In between folded fir boards, meditation happens. The folds of the wood follow a rhythm. Short and tight, they seem to protect the visitor. The opening to the forest is smooth and soft with longer boards. In the future, the patina of the fir boards will return their look to one similar to the neighbouring trees. And then: It stands in the forest – absolutely still and silent...

Statement of the jury

With its rhythmic folded construction made from fir wood, the pavilion has a distinctive and refined appearance. The wooden construction of the ceiling inside the building creates a soft round arch towards the back that turns into the rear wall, creating a peaceful atmosphere. A brilliantly-designed building made from wood and glass that blends it harmoniously into the forest landscape.
