Mary Help of Christian Church

Mary Help of Christian Church

Description

Inspired by the church which is named after the Holy Annunciation of Mary, the building exterior was designed in the form of Mary’s praying hands, angel wings and the rays of the Holy Spirit. The use of a lightweight insulation wall and cross airflow creates interior comfort while natural light shining through the skylight gives a feeling of security as in the mother’s womb. The shadow of moving clouds and surrounding trees on the white walls reminds us of God almighty of the natural environment.

Statement of the jury

The shape, inspired by praying hands, wings and the rays of light emanating from the Holy Spirit, gives the building an unmistakable identity. A beautiful, friendly and inviting structure that translates sacred images into aesthetically-pleasing architecture.
