Student Housing Grünewaldstraße

Description

This residential area, which is located near the University of Bielefeld, is meant to accommodate students. The design proposes a kind of campus consisting of staggered, multi-level houses, where communication is the focus. The outdoor spaces are of central importance. They are not assigned to individual houses, but form a park-like landscape, which is open to all residents as a public space, thus promoting interpersonal exchange and togetherness.

Statement of the jury

The student accommodation offers a significantly-higher quality of life with its group of smaller units planned into the park landscape, as opposed to an impersonal horizontal block. With its variety of window sizes, the cubes look very modern and friendly.
