Together with HARBOUR, a manufacturer of eyeglasses, Hadi Teherani is now literally designing from face to face. The laser sintering process in 3D printing belongs to the new techniques for drafting and production. But how does the archetypical repertoire of shapes for eyewear live on? How can it be transformed into a present-day fit and evolve further in the future? How much material is necessary so that they are stable and conform with each and every requirement? GRID offers the answer.

Statement of the jury

Ostensibly light, futuristic and striking, these 3-dimensional printed glasses not only offer a new economical production opportunity due to their honeycomb structure, they also provide a number of shapes, colours and sizes to fit a variety of wearers’ wants and needs. Functional, the grid-like form also appears to act as a subtle feature to the viewer of the frame.
