Lodève Museum

Lodève Museum

Description

The forecourt of the museum has been cleared. A tall steel breach welcomes visitors. The different visits are organised around a 13-metre-high atrium covered with an ETFE membrane. The development of contemporary mineral qualities and the use of untreated materials directly echo the museum’s specific identity. The museum highlights the close links between the three collections, all originating in the region.

Statement of the jury

The narrow entrance is unexpected and makes it hard to imagine how large the museum actually is. The rooms in the building are clearly and openly structured and provide lots of variation. The mixture of concrete surfaces and natural stone walls is very attractive.
