Taitung Design Center

Description

TTDC is the first Municipal-level Design Centre in Taiwan to redefine the city brand of Taitung. Different from normal public sectors in Taiwan, it is collaborated by government sectors and local consulting teams, dedicated to apply the design concept into city governance. The core concept is to add value to Taitung’s resources with design proposals. It tries to initiate conversation among different sectors with proposals that inspire and demonstrate the design needs for the public.

Statement of the jury

The TTDC is setting a model example with its first »Design centre at a community level« in Taiwan. Government, local consultants, town and city authorities collaborate to get an understanding of design that is used as a tool to create value and be an inspiration to all. Here, design quality is a model for public resources.
