Tencent Wuhan R&D Center

Description

Tencent R&D centre is located on the south side of Wuhan TangxunLake, which is the largest city lake in Asia. The relationship between the building and the lake is designed with the idea of a SHORE GRAVEL. We consider duality as a design method: inward softness and extroverted intransigence. The building unfolds three times in a linear way to make all the effective space face the lake. Barrier-free measures were implemented here. It considered fairness, adjustability and efficiency. It obtained LEED.

Statement of the jury

With its striking, modern architecture, the complex establishes a clear link to the directly adjacent lake and enters into an exciting dialogue with it. A very well proportioned, almost sculptural construction in terms of its design language, with interesting details that make it unmistakeable.
