Europäisches Zentrum für jüdische Gelehrsamkeit
Description
The North Gate building and Orangery at the Sanssouci Palace Park, built in 1768-1769, are part of the UNESCO German World Heritage. It is the first academic training centre for rabbis and cantors in Central Europe after the Shoah. The ensemble underwent several structural changes. During the GDR era, the Orangery was radically modified and converted into a gymnasium. The former plant house was to regain the character of a greenhouse. The new synagogue is located in the centre of the ensemble.
