A report design for The Southern Initiative in New Zealand. The report documents the creation of a family and children's community centre. We created carved wooden blocks that became the visual language for the book. The blocks reference Māori carving as well as children's toy blocks. The blocks were arranged in different layouts, and photographed to create the imagery for the report.
Statement of the jury
The design concept for the report on the development project of a family and children's community centre in New Zealand lives from the striking aesthetics of carved wooden elements in Māori style, which were playfully arranged into various motifs and illustrate the report.
