Stollen der Erinnerung. Zwangsarbeit und Konzentrationslager in Steyr-Münichholz

Description

An arch-shaped access designed with glass light masts leads to twelve light installations that document the planning, construction and “management“ of the former Steyr-Münichholz concentration camp. The structure built by former concentration camp inmates was left in its raw character. Rhythmically structured stretches of paths alternate with quiet, “meditative” passages. The two outer gates were given new frames of steel and decorative concrete, whereby the bars are visible to the outside. A sensitive and touching exhibition for the location with its dark past against it being forgotten.
