Hearthouse

Description

Based on the Anglo-Saxon model of the Private Member’s Club, the Hearthouse offers, over four cores, a platform for a multitude of uses. Each space is differentiated by the materiality of the bespoke crafted, inbuilt furniture. The stone-made elements are determined by the nature of each room in terms of colour, finish and veining. Given a versatile programme, and the dominant frame of the existing masonry building, the intervention is kept light and non-load bearing.

Statement of the jury

The use of different types of stone ensures interesting variety and differentiation. At the same time, the interior leaves an impression of great elegance overall.
