House Juniskär

House Juniskär

Description

House Juniskär is conceived as a reflection on the theme of the domestic. The house is formal and symmetrical towards the garden but informal and plastic towards the entrance side. The interior spatial sequence turns horizontally and vertically around the large staircase that connects all levels. The interior spaces have many different proportions and are painted in slightly different hues and are lined with white paneling, all of which further plays with the idea of the traditional or home-like.

Statement of the jury

This house, which consists of two structures of differing sizes, is notable for its clear and simple design aesthetic, which harmonises beautifully with the Danish-brick façade. The interior layout of the structures is also highly successful, and features spaces that are, surprisingly, of differing heights.
