Appearing Sculptural

Description

Appearing Sculptural is a short film series created by photographer and filmmaker Andreas Waldschütz, who unconventionally and sensually re-staged Marte.Marte´s most sculptural buildings. The soundtrack of sound-designer Stefan Hoffmeister is based exclusively on recordings capturing the ambient sounds of the places where the projects can be found. The films screen at Marte.Marte’s second monograhic exhibition and are part of their installation at the Biennale di Architettura 2016 in Venice.

Statement of the jury

These films produced by avant garde film maker Andreas Waldschütz and sound designer Stefan Hoffmeister are monumentally powerful masterpieces of cinematography. The consistent quality and precision that marks each of the five films in equal measure are truly remarkable. This fascinating series is hypnotic in places and difficult to resist. Shot predominantly in black and white, its images remain etched in the memory with enduring effect.
