Neubau Mensa Straelen

Description

Connected to the town hall, a building with spacious and well-lit premises has been created, which opens up towards the school campus. Not only has the town hall received a makeover and new appearance through the construction of the canteen, but also a new inviting entrance. The modern architecture enables multiple communal and business uses: the spacious interior spaces are well suited for seminars, cultural events and private parties.

Statement of the jury

The clear, elongated cubic design aesthetic of this building has an inviting and modern effect, and creates a maximum amount of interior space. Generously proportioned windows admit substantial natural light and underscore the open feeling of the space. In the interest of keeping ambient noise to a tolerable level, acoustic panel cladding was used on the cafeteria walls.
