House Y

House Y

Description

The one family house on the shore of a lake is built of wood and raised on steel pillars to achieve healthy indoor air. The untreated wooden exterior will turn grey over time to honour the regional building heritage. The three-wing design concept allows an uninterrupted 245 degree lake-view, and the wooden interior is subtly whitened to enhance the experience. By building the living room as a canopy toward the lake the room appears to be floating above water when viewed from the interior.

Statement of the jury

The characteristic Y form allows for a lake view from all parts of the house. The gables converge in the middle to form a spectacular vaulted ceiling in the centre of the interior.
