Description

The design is characterized by a high-quality finish and serene appearance and creates a self-confident building that works together with its surroundings. The outer façade with its finely arranged dark brickwork in the long format is in keeping with the surrounding environment. The connection to the water is by a generous 3-storey “city loggia” which breaks up the building mass and allows visual connections.

Statement of the jury

With its brick façade, this building in Hamburg’s HafenCity district not only blends seamlessly with the surrounding historic architecture, but also creates an intriguing visual perspective between the buildings behind it and the water in front of it, thanks to its audacious three-story recess.
