Shanghai Yangshupu Power Plant Regeneration

Description

The site was formerly in use as a power plant. By fully protecting and reusing the retained buildings, the design tries to better benefit the surroundings. The park will accommodate a diversity of functions: office, hotel, etc. The industrial structure will be reborn as urban farming, a garden and an experience museum. The Harbor Plaza mixes the use of retail, F&B, entertainment, etc. Power Plant CBD is located at the at main entrances. The former boiler and generator buildings will turn into a lifestyle mall.

Statement of the jury

This sustainable design was executed by means of exciting and futuristic architecture that successfully integrates the historic structure. A splendid detail are the sculptural high-rises with their striking across-corner gardens.
