Matrix Candle Holders

Description

The Matrix Candle Holders are functional objects that blur the line between design and art. The objects as such are sculptural pieces that would in their own right be an adornment to any space. Nonetheless, they have a function: to hold candles. And they do this like no other candle holder. Both candle holders can be used to hold candles on every side, making possible a very large number of candle arrangements and combinations of position and height.

Statement of the jury

Transposing a mathematical co-ordinate system into a candle holder is a highly original idea. The manner in which the various co-ordinate points engender differing candle heights has been realised ingeniously.
