Passage to India through Greece

Description

This eco-apartment in the heart of Mumbai was designed keeping in mind the hot and humid climate of Mumbai as well as the architecture and the elements that make homes in Greece truly special. We selected the region of Santorini to be our inspiration for this project. With white-washed walls to keep the house cool, custom-built furniture made of distressed wood to ease the eye and strategically placed arches that increase ventilation and the flow of wind, we were able to bring Greece to Mumbai.

Statement of the jury

This design adroitly deploys elements from Greek architectural style – and thus achieves an elegant Mediterranean look while at the same time benefiting from the ambient climatic advantages.
