Stadtmauerhaus – Wohn- und Geschäftshaus
Description
The new city wall house forms an important urban planning link between the museum and the city centre. It connects the cultural and commercial parts of the city. With its cubist design, it presents itself as a finely proportioned building sculpture. The delicate architectural style bridges the gap between the historical Gründerzeit houses and the primarily closed, two-storey buildings surrounding the city church. It is aligned with the hillside and consists of two main bodies that spread over multiple storeys.
Statement of the jury
With its expansive glass frontage, the sculptural structure, which extends across several levels is modern, clean-lined and perfectly proportioned.
