Haus Quabbe

Haus Quabbe

Description

Modern architecture in the old town: With sloping walls, nested cubes and staggered roofs, this house refers to the construction of the old houses in the area and reinterprets them. The creation of visual references, such as the orientation of windows on the historic church, establishes urban connections. The architectural concept is unique because it can only be realized in this location. The building is aligned with the view to the »Ems« River.

Statement of the jury

The design references the architecture of the historic quarter, giving it a modern, up-to-date interpretation, which helps the building to fit in with the existing building stocks.
