Our Pinion Reiserad is a true expedition bike – extremely solid and reliable thanks to the use of the frame-mounted Pinion transmission, which, like almost all components of this bike, is made in Germany, and is a true star of German engineering. Also, the Carbon belt drive from Gates is completely maintenance-free and extremely durable. For a beautiful look, all the aluminium parts in this bike are colour-coordinated.

Statement of the jury

With this exquisite touring bike, the manufacturer has reinterpreted the whole concept of back to basics with considerable aplomb from the standpoint of both form and function. Solid and robustly built down to the last detail, the Rennstahl 853 touring bike radiates pure quality – thanks in no small measure to the fact that genuine materials have been used throughout. The fact that the bike features cutting-edge technologies is hardly a surprise for a product of this type and purpose. Given that weight is such a crucial factor for bicycles, superfluous elements were dispensed with and the necessary components were reduced to the essentials. This design decision also works to the benefit of the bike’s appearance, which is agreeably clear and elegant. An impeccable and virtually indestructible bike that is at once elegant and of superior quality.
