ETH Zürich Campus Hönggerberg

ETH Zürich Campus Hönggerberg

Description

The philosophy of the master plan is based on the idea of making urban space readable with minimal light intensity and shaping the emotional experience of the night. The basic idea is summarised in the question: How little light does a person need to perceive spaces, to feel secure, to orient themselves, to feel well, to experience the night?

Statement of the jury

The growing problem of light pollution is a topic of high relevance. The concept aims to minimise the amount of light on campus, without making people feel they are walking around in the dark. Rather, it promises to make the perception of night more tangible, without making anyone feel uncomfortable.
